Skimming stones

Monday was DS’s 10th Birthday.  Where did a decade go?

After a hectic two days of Go Karting, Sleep Over and Cinema we took it easy yesterday and went to the beach to skim some stones.

This is Scremeston Beach – just a few miles from Berwick, not as dramatic as Bamburgh beach where the castle is right on the dunes, but we could see both Bamburgh and Lindisfarne Castle - and as at Bamburgh, its a beautiful golden beach.  Much less crowded too.

Patterns in the rock pools – no idea what makes these trails.

Exploring the rocks. (See how crowded that beach isn’t? – In August on a sunny day)

Also I broke the “Artists Block” on the Sketchbook Project.  I have chosen “Below the Surface” but then realised that I couldn’t do what I wanted to do (microscopic images in watercolour).  BUT then I realised that rather than trying to find just one theme I could interpret it as below ANY surface.  When the waves went back they revealed……… pebbles and rocks “Below the Surface” of the waves.

  1. A lot of the trick of dealing with themed projects like this lies in tweaking the theme to suit you. I'm glad you've found your viewpoint now!
