Thought you would like to hear the judges comments about my entry to FoQ.

Judge 1;
Lovely soft colours and fabrics.  I feel the dark machine embroidery of the birds contrasts too heavily with the soft big stitch work.

Judge 2;
Your machine drawn birds are charming - just a bit lost against your chosen background.

You can only laugh.

  2. Glad you got home ok.
    I saw your quilt at the FOQ, and thought it was lovely, especially the delicate stitching of the birds on the branch.

  6. Dear Helen
    I love your birds. The judges ought to get together and moderate their comments. The fact they do not - and thus you have this ridiculous contradictory feedback - is a reflection on their professionalism and not yours.
    It is good you got to FoQ. Sadly from deepest darkest Devon and with not much ££ I could not make the trip this year so you might find it funny to hear that I am quite envious of you for having actually been there - although I DO remember how sore my feet were when I last made it! Also, you did actually make something and enter it, which is more than I managed to do so WELL DONE YOU. xxxx :)

  7. I certainly did laugh! One year I entered a quilt that was supposed to be a New Zealand beach/landscape. The greens in NZ are all very yellow and everyone who knew NZ said it was true to colour. One of the judges, on the other hand, said the colours were not bright enough for the title! I have entered anything since they removed the 'small' category but now I know there is no minimum size in 2011 I might reconsider.
