Not a good day

That's possibly an understatement but I am in shock atm.  Just resting for lunch.

This was the view from my bedroom window this morning…..

can you see what's wrong?

Yes, the roof has collapsed.

The Bernina Artista was holding up the roof. Can’t say they aren’t solid machines.

web2 web3 web4

The Pfaff was holding up the other side of the roof.  The other Bernina on the Horn cabinet was sent smashing through the cabinet to the floor.

Everyone has come and helped and we have guys propping up the roof so we can get in and get stuff out.  Can you imagine what the house looks like?

We’ve had a container delivered to put the tables and such in and an insurance form is being posted to us.

We were planning to get stuff out today – thank goodness we weren’t inside.

OK, back to work, there is so much to do before it gets dark and there is MORE snow forecast tonight.

  1. Helen, I've been following you quietly for a while and today when I saw these dreadful (as in nightmare scenario)photos, I simply had to send you my best wishes for a speedy studio recovery. How absolutely awful for you after just getting everything up and running again. As you say, thank goodness you weren't inside at the time and that those machines have been holding it all together as best they could. That's some serious snow you've got there in your neck of the woods - do hope you manage to move enough before it snows again. Good luck. Caroline

  3. Oh Helen, i'm so sorry, snow may be beautiful but it can cause so much trouble.
At least you are ok and were not inside when it collapsed. Take care when taking the things out, big hugs to you x x

you did say bernina machines were solid and could take being trailed about, you never told me they could hold a roof up!!!

  4. Helen, the pictures are truly heartbreaking. So glad you were not inside when it happened - I suspect your Bernina is stronger than you. It's also replaceable.
Hope you get everything to safety soon, especially yourselves.

  5. Helen, how absolutely awful - I'm so so glad you weren't anywhere near when it happened. You should send that photo to Bernina though! Take care, and try and rest, and as Gill says, it's you that matters, they are replaceable...

  6. I knew Berninas would come in useful. I don't use mine as much as I should, but I'm going to hang on to it now.....just in case my roof ever goes lol. Hope you manage to get your work out undamaged. Best Wishes.

How heartbreaking to see your latest studio pictures. These pictures are tragic after all your trials and tribulations from last year. However, life goes on and I am sure you will pick yourself up and continue to make great art. In the meantime take care of yourself, as someone else says stuff can be replaced you cannot. Best wishes.

  10. Oh Helen, my heart really bleeds for you. How truely awful. I'm just so sorry!! And also so sorry I don't live close enough so I could come to give you a hand. All that work putting everything back in only to have this happen. It's a relief that none of you were injured but the shock must have been tremendous and then to see the devastation. I hope you will be able to salvage as much as possible and bring it into the house and what a cold job that must have been on this freezing day.I so wish I could help but at the moment we like you are totally marooned here surrounded by snow and ice. But remember if you need a hand in the future putting it all back, give me a ring!!! I MEAN IT!! Love and wish I could give you a hug, you must need one. Good thing DH and DS are at hand for that!

  13. OMG, I am so sorry to see this! At least you were not in there and now you will get a new studio! As long as no one was hurt, everything will be OK. But it's still going to me a total PITA and I'm sorry for that.
