Another long day

This was yesterday – Saturday.  I am smiling as a reflex action to the camera, I’m not really doing much smiling at all.  I was trying to illustrate just how much snow we have.  We dug out the car today – for the second time.  It doesn’t look too bad here but that's because we’d already cleared several inches off the drive.

Icicles outside the bedroom window, like prison bars, or sharp teeth.  Its now been about 24 days since I left the house apart from two trips to Wooler.

more snow

More pictures of the shed – more of the roof has come down over the two nights and can you see how it’s no longer straight across the front?

Bookcases and display boards have now broken as the roof settles.

First thing tomorrow I try to arrange for a new container to arrive.  This is the emergency one and as you can see its a bit grotty.  But much better than having tables left on the lawn.  We've thrown some polythene over the roof too in case it rains.  Though its more snow forecast for tomorrow.

We’ve had the Met Office issuing weather warnings for weeks now.

Can we fast forward to May please?

  2. Helen, have been thinking about you all day, wondering how you're doing. That smile does look a little more like a grimace...

Sadly, you're right, there doesn't seem to be an end in sight yet.

I've been following over the past few days. I can't imagine what a shock it must have been when you first went inside. I hope things start to improve soon.

  5. Oh Helen! My heart sank when I read your blog and saw what had happened. After all the months of rebuilding your workshop after the floods ... and then this to happen. My heart breaks for you. Its so hard to imagine what the snow is doing to your lives, but people all across the world are thinking of you, and hoping there's an end in site. My stomach knots up though at the thought of where all that water will go when the snow thaws. I sincerely hope you don't have more problems, and that you get your studio repaired and up and running as soon as possible. Hang in there ... hopefully everyones good vibes will lift your spirits.

  6. Helen thinking of you lots,

radio scotland said this morning that the borders area is a bit warmer ~ just a little above freezing, I hope this will be the start of a slow thaw, they also mentioned that many farm shed roofs had gone, it's a nightmare for you all,
I hope DS can get to school alright today, the internet and phone must be like lifelines just now, take care, stay safe,
love and best thoughts Frances x
