The weather is turning here, the temperatures are rarely higher than 17-18 degrees during the day and the mornings and evenings are really chilly. Leaves have started turning colour and falling. Autumn is coming. I love the colours and the coolness - just wish I could keep the light. I miss the light during the days.
I have to say a BIG thank you to everyone who has sent a message or left a comment wishing me well. The worst is over but I am left feeling like a wrung out rag.
Janice was correct to say I've taken 2 steps forward and 4 back this year.... certainly feels that way. It all seems to have gone downhill since the cancellation of Andalusia in April.
So the next few months must be recovery and planning for 2011. Yes, 2011. I've just a few teaching commitments left in 2009 and a few for 2010 but in 2011 I am at the Loch Lomond Quilt show in April and Pebbles Gallery in November. I'm also going to try and arrange one more exhibition locally during that time. So that's 18 months to rest, recover and make new art.
Here are some pictures of the studio as it was left last week - all that was required was the hanging of the new textiles pieces and photographs.
These are not "arty" pics - just taken yesterday and the light was limited.
Wow!! the studio looks amazing, glad to hear you are on the mend, maybe half term you should head for sunshine. i look and see how hard you work and it makes me feel guilty, i think i have too much time on my hands, they do say if you need something done ask a busy woman!!!! maybe i need a job to fill my time then i will have focus.................................... sending you some of our sunshine xx
ReplyDeleteHi Helen, the studio looks absolutely fantastic, what a shame your fans were not able to share it in person. Here's looking forward to get to visit next year. Don't look back at what you didn't manage to do this year, just keep going and looking forward. I am sure you will have every success in 2010 and beyond.
ReplyDeleteit looks really great - i always believe things are meant for a purpose so can't tellyou what it is yet but I'm sure something good will come out of all this - take care and enjoy the rest that your body says you have to take!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Helen, it's good to hear you're back on your feet again but take it easy till the flu is totally disappeared from your system! The studio looks lovely, such a shame this had to happen. It sounds like you're hunkering down, just working away in your studio, preparing for exhibitions. Sounds good to me and just what I'm doing myself or at least trying to do. By the way at the Quilters' Guild Area day last Saturday during the Show and Tell someone showed the flower tower she had started during the Stirling week in your class. Looked yummy!
ReplyDeleteI agree, your studio looks amazing, lots of beautiful and colourful work. Take your time recovering and keep looking to the future.
